Friendly International
These two teams have met just twice throughout their history - both friendly matches. Slovakia won the first game 2:0 at home, while the second game resulted in a 2:2 draw. The second game was really interesting, as Slovakia had a 2:0 lead with about 15 minutes left, but central defender Stefan Savic scored in the 77th and 98th minutes.
Slovakia team overview
Slovakia failed to secure their second-ever World Cup appearance, with their only one being in 2010 in South Africa. In this World Cup Qualifiers, they had some really good performances and even managed to win against Germany in the first round. Still, they finished 2nd in the group with 12 points in six rounds and earned the opportunity to play against Kosovo in the Playoffs. Unfortunately, they lost 4:3 and missed their chance.
After failing to secure the WC, Slovakia decided not to renew the contract with coach Francesco Calzona when it expired. Vladimir Weiss took over the national team, while the former captain, Marek Hamsik, joined as an assistant.
For these friendlies, a few key players aren't called due to injuries or to get rest after an exhausting season - Martin Dubravka, Norbert Gyömbér, Milan Škriniar, Dávid Hancko, and Stanislav Lobotka.

Montenegro team overview
Montenegro are ranked 81 on the FIFA World Ranking List and is one of the teams that have never reached any of the major tournaments. In this World Cup Qualification cycle, they were atrocious, finishing 4th in the group with Croatia, the Czech Republic, the Faroe Islands, and Gibraltar. Looking further back, they were bad in the last UEFA Nations League, suffering relegation from League B to C. Generally speaking, the lack of talent is pretty noticeable, and we doubt the results will significantly change any time soon.
The team's captain, Stevan Jovetic, isn't with the team. According to Montenegrin sources, the 36-year-old is actively seeking a new club, and head coach Mirko Vučinić decided it would be best for him to concentrate on that process. There are speculations that the experienced forward could return to Partizan.

Prediction
Slovakia failed to secure the World Cup, but did not disappoint in our opinion. Also, at home, they did very well, losing only once in the past 10, while winning seven of those. One of those wins was super impressive as they beat Germany 2:0.
On the other hand, Montenegro almost exclusively secured positive results in the past two years against really bad teams. Also, on the road, they were particularly bad, losing nine of the past 11 games - 82%. So, expecting a good performance away from home seems unreal.
We believe Slovakia are a much better team and even though they will miss some of their key players, we still favor them to win over struggling Montenegro in this Friendly International tie.
3 Reasons why Slovakia should win
- Slovakia lost once in the past ten home games
- Slovakia won six of the past nine games across competitions
- Montenegro lost nine of the past 11 road games
