- Date: Friday, 5th June, 2026
- Kickoff: 23:15 UK / 00:15 CEST
- Venue: Estadio Defensores del Chaco (Asunción)
Unlike most national teams, which have played many friendlies before the World Cup, Paraguay hasn't played any matches since late March. Their only remaining friendly will be against Nicaragua on the night between Friday and Saturday. In 2026, they played only two friendlies, winning against Greece and losing to Morocco. Meanwhile, Nicaragua arrives at the match just days after a goalless draw with another World Cup participant, South Africa.
Let's break down the game and find the best possible bet for this Friendly International tie.

Friendly International
These teams have met just once, in a friendly match in 2023. That time, Paraguay won 2:0, with goals from Miguel Almiron and Fabian Balbuena.
Paraguay team overview
Paraguay failed to qualify for the past three World Cups in Brazil, Russia, and Qatar. In these World Cup Qualifiers, they did well and eventually finished 6th, securing their appearance in the tournament. That 6th place doesn't look as impressive as it actually is. They won 28 points and are on level with three other teams in front. The fact that they won the same number of points as Brazil says a lot about their performance in the Qualifiers. After the Qualifiers, they were inconsistent in friendlies but still managed to grab some good wins over Mexico and Greece.
In one of his recent interviews, coach Gustavo Alfaro spoke to the media. He said he believes that the mentality and team spirit are just as important as tactics. The coach said their strength lies in a collective, rather than individual stars.

Nicaragua team overview
Nicaragua are number 131 on the FIFA World Ranking List. The Blue and White have once again failed to qualify for the World Cup, finishing last in Group C alongside Haiti, Honduras, and Costa Rica. After the WC Qualifiers, they lost to Russia and then drew with South Africa. However, they deserved to lose both of those matches, and, generally speaking, they haven't performed well for a long time. Even in the matches they secured positive results, they haven't played well. However, looking at their roster, we cannot really say that it is a surprise.
After a goalless draw with South Africa a few days ago, coach Juan Cruz Real spoke to the media. He was satisfied with the result, saying it was a great result for his "young experimental team." The coach added that holding South Africa to a draw is more than he expected.

Prediction
Paraguay haven't been too consistent in friendlies. However, in the World Cup Qualifiers, they did well, especially at home. There, they kept a clean sheet in six out of nine games in the Qualifiers - 67%, and we firmly believe they will keep a clean sheet against Nicaragua.
Nicaragua have had massive offensive problems in recent games. They failed to score in five out of the past ten games and faced mostly teams much weaker than Paraguay. In the last game against South Africa, Nicaragua had 15% ball possession and zero shots on goal. So, scoring against Paraguay seems completely unreal.
Also, the previous h2h game ended with Paraguay winning 2:0. Considering all the above, we believe we could see a very similar result this time as well.
3 Reasons why at least one team should fail to score
- Paraguay kept a clean sheet in the last three home games
- Nicaragua failed to score in five of the past ten games across competitions
- Paraguay won 2:0 in the previous H2H game in 2023
Main prediction Paraguay - Nicaragua
