Millwall head into Monday’s second leg unbeaten in six matches, and while that run includes only three victories, the defensive consistency has probably pleased Alex Neil most.

The Lions kept four clean sheets during that stretch and have started to look like a side built for playoff football. Tight games. Few risks. Plenty of discipline.

Form at The Den has also improved at the right moment for Alex Neil’s side. Millwall won their last two home matches, beating both QPR and Oxford United 2-0. The atmosphere under the lights on Monday will likely feel very different from the cautious first leg.

Josh Coburn remains the main attacking threat after scoring nine Championship goals this season. Neil is expected to keep faith with him again here.

Danny McNamara is still unavailable with the long-term knee injury that has already kept him out for months. Lukas Jensen, Massimo Luongo and Daniel Kelly are also sidelined.

Hull City arrive in London knowing recent away form needs to improve quickly. The Tigers have lost only two of their last nine matches overall, which sounds encouraging at first glance. Dig a little deeper though, and the away numbers become harder to ignore.

Sergej Jakirović’s side are winless in five consecutive away games and have suffered three defeats in that run. More worrying perhaps, Hull conceded at least twice in four of those matches.

The clean sheet in the first leg against Millwall was actually their first in five games, so defensive stability has not exactly been guaranteed lately.

Oli McBurnie continues to carry much of the attacking responsibility after scoring 17 league goals this season. The Scottish forward should once again lead the line at The Den.

Darko Gyabi, Amir Hadžiahmetović and Eliot Matazo remain unavailable because of injury problems.
