The 2026 FIFA World Cup is underway, and today two other hosts, Canada and the United States, will try to follow in the footsteps of Mexico and earn their first victories. The USA and Paraguay share a unique piece of World Cup history dating back to the inaugural tournament in 1930. When the two nations met in Montevideo, the United States won 3-0 thanks to three goals by Bert Patenaude. That was the first hat-trick in the history of the tournament.
