Dallas Mavericks Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves WCF Game 5: Signs of Life

The Minnesota Timberwolves avoided being swept in game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. While they remain on life support, Minnesota does have a chance to put a whole new spin on the series if they can beat Dallas in game 5 on their home court.

Once again, Luka Doncic was Dallas’ best player as he recorded yet another triple-double. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving was held to just 16 points. Minny’s duo of Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony Towns was just a bit better overall in the Timberwolves’ 105-100 win.

While many already gave up on the T-Wolves when they fell behind 3-0, they now have some life in them and the prospect of cutting their series deficit to a manageable 3-2. The best NBA betting sites have Minnesota as a fairly hefty favorite. They are about 1.55 on the moneyline while Dallas is priced at around 2.60. The spread is sitting at 4.5 while the game total is hovering around the 209.5 mark.

Minnesota Timberwolves Vs. Dallas Mavericks Game 5: Still Cornered

The spread for game 5 in Minneapolis is 4.5 which is the same as it was for game 1 in Minneapolis. That makes sense considering how close these games have been. 3 games have been decided by 5 or fewer points while just one, game 3, saw a 9-point difference. For Minnesota backers, one of the biggest issues from a betting perspective is that the Timberwolves are just 1-5 SU and ATS in their last 5 home games. If you dig a bit deeper, you’ll see that Minnesota is a paltry 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games. They are also just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games versus Dallas.

For their part, the Mavericks have been very good as a road team lately going a very profitable 6-1 SU and ATS in their last seven road outings. They are also 5-2 ATS in their last 7 overall against the Timberwolves. These numbers are convincing enough for me to take the 4.5 points with Dallas. I will also season that wager with a bit of that plus-money moneyline spice and the obligatory Luka Doncic triple-double prop.
