Manchester City return to EPL action on Wednesday after a relatively straightforward 3:0 win against Brentford last weekend. Following a goalless 60 minutes, second-half goals from Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush secured the points for the Citizens. 

Pep Guardiola’s men have been in largely excellent form, winning seven of their last eight matches. However a 3:3 draw against Everton earlier this month is likely to prove costly in their pursuit of the EPL title. City now sit five points behind Arsenal with this game in hand. 

Usually a reliable choice in the goal markets, six of the Citizens last seven games finished with at least three goals scored. Six of seven previous EPL meetings between these sides also saw over 2.5 match goals. 

Head coach Guardiola has three expected absentees this week. Joško Gvardiol (broken leg) and Rodri are ruled out through injury, while Abdukodir Khusanov is doubtful due to a knock.

Crystal Palace make the trip to the Etihad Stadium after picking up a point in a back-and-forth 2:2 draw against Everton last weekend. Jean Philippe Mateta stepped off the bench to score his 11th EPL goal of the season as the Eagles twice fought back to claim a point at Selhurst Park.

Oliver Glasner’s side are now safe from the threat of relegation but with a Conference League final to look forward to, competition for places should see the Eagles put up a strong fight this week. 

The Eagles have been in mixed form, winning three and losing three of six previous fixtures before Sunday’s draw against Everton. 

High-scoring outcomes have been a recurring theme for Palace in recent weeks. All but one of their last ten fixtures finished with over 2.5 goals scored.

Head coach Glasner has four expected absentees for Wednesday’s EPL encounter. Borna Sosa (muscle), Cheick Doucouré (knee) and Eddie Nketiah (strain) are ruled out through injury, while Evann Guessand is also unavailable.

Jean Philippe Mateta could earn a recall after his goalscoring substitute appearance against the Toffees.
