Georgia vs Romania prediction 02.06.2026 | Friendly match

Georgia have only one major tournament appearance, the EURO two years ago. They were terrible in the World Cup qualifiers last year, with only three points from six matches, and now Georgia wants to get back on the right track. Willy Sagnol's team recently went through a five-game winless run, but they finally ended that streak in their last outing with a convincing 2-0 victory away to Lithuania in Kaunas. However, Georgia didn't dominate in the game either, but their excellent efficiency was enough for victory. 

The games in June are never easy, as the season is over and most players are waiting to go on vacation. Georgia have problems with missing players, especially in the attack. Georges Mikautadze has a minor injury and will not play on Tuesday. Also, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Zuriko Davitashvili had important matches for their clubs only a few days ago, and they will not play against Romania, either. Also, defender Iva Gelashvili have a wedding a few days before the upcoming friendly and will skip it as well. 

Romania appeared in only three major tournaments in the 21st century. They had an opportunity in the World Cup playoff this spring, but they lost against Turkey. With that defeat, Romania lost three of the previous four games. In the last match, they lost 2-0 on the road against Slovakia. That was another tie in which Romania showed too little in the attack, and that certainly remains the biggest problem the head coach, Gheorghe Hagi, has to solve. 

Widely regarded as the best football player Romania has ever produced, Gheorge Hagi, is ahead of the challenge of coaching the national team. Hagi have two coaching titles in Romania with Farul Constanta and Viitorul Constanta, but now will try to return his national team among the best in Europe. He will debut on Tuesday evening in Tbilisi. 

Romania have some problems with missing players, too. They will be without Ionit Radu and Dennis Man on Tuesday.
