This final adds another chapter to a growing European rivalry between the clubs. Arsenal and PSG have already met during recent Champions League campaigns, with the Parisians knocking out the newly crowned Premier League champions in last season’s semi-final stage.
PSG team overview
PSG head into the final in excellent form after another dominant domestic and European campaign. They swept through the knockout rounds with impressive aggregate victories, including a 6-5 semi-final triumph over Bayern and a 4-0 quarter-final aggregate win against Liverpool.
Much of their success has revolved around the attacking trio led by Ousmane Dembélé, whose work rate off the ball has drawn praise from Luis Enrique. The PSG manager recently highlighted Dembélé’s defensive intensity as symbolic of the club’s transformation into a complete team rather than a collection of stars.
Midfield control remains another major strength, with Vitinha continuing to dictate tempo in European matches. Defensively, PSG received a major boost with Achraf Hakimi expected to return after recovering from injury.
Apart from a one-off goal-filled thriller against Bayern in Paris, which ended 5-4 in PSG’s favour, the current Champions League winners have been relatively solid defensively in this season’s competition - they have kept five clean sheets and are averaging 1.4 goals conceded per game.
Luis Enrique is also expected to have a nearly full-strength squad available, leaving PSG with few selection concerns entering the biggest game of the season.

Arsenal team overview
Arsenal arrive in Budapest carrying enormous momentum after finally ending their long Premier League title drought under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners have arguably been Europe’s most defensively balanced side this season, something even Enrique acknowledged when he described them as “the world’s best when out of possession.”
Their Champions League campaign has been remarkably efficient. Arsenal topped the league phase with eight wins before eliminating Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting CP, and Atlético Madrid en route to the final. Staggeringly, the newly crowned English champions have kept four clean sheets in their last five outings in Europe’s elite competition, conceding only away to Atlético Madrid from the penalty spot.
Key figures such as Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have been central to Arsenal’s consistency, while summer signing Viktor Gyökeres has added a clinical edge in attack.
In terms of injuries, Arsenal have received encouraging news ahead of the final. Mikel Merino has returned to training following foot surgery, while Jurrien Timber is also pushing to be fit in time for the showdown.

Prediction
This final feels exceptionally difficult to call because both sides possess contrasting but equally effective strengths. PSG arguably have the greater attacking unpredictability and European experience after winning the competition last season, while Arsenal’s defensive structure and tactical discipline have suffocated elite opponents throughout the campaign.
Given PSG’s recent big-game experience and superior attacking depth, they may hold a slight edge in a final likely to be decided by fine margins. However, given Arsenal’s defensive resilience throughout the entire 2025/26 campaign - both domestically and in Europe - this should be a low-scoring final.
Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals Total.
Three reasons we expect Under 2.5 Goals Total
- Under 2.5 goals has landed in 7 of the last 10 UEFA Champions League finals (counting regulation time only).
- Under 2.5 goals has been the outcome in Arsenal’s last six Champions League fixtures.
- Under 2.5 goals has occurred in three of PSG’s last four Champions League outings.
