Bodo/Glimt vs Fredrikstad prediction 17.07.2026 | Eliteserien

After losing the Eliteserien title to Viking in 2025, Bodo/Glimt are determined to return to the top of domestic football. After 12 league rounds, Knutsen's team is two points behind the league leader, Tromso, but with almost two-thirds of the season left, there is more than enough time for Bodo/Glimt to return to the top. 

Bodo/Glimt are excellent lately with five victories in the last six matches. In the first match after the World Cup break, they won 2-0 on the road against KFUM Oslo. Although Bodo/Glimt were without a few very important players, they ended with significantly higher xG and eventually secured all three points. 

The big question for Bodo/Glimt is whether Patrick Berg, Jens Petter Hauge, and Fredrik Bjorkan will play on Friday against Fredrikstad. All three were part of the Norway team at the World Cup and could get a week or two of vacation after matches in North America. Besides them, Odin Luras Bjortuft, August Mikkelsen, and Magnus Riisnaes are questionable due to injuries. 

Fredrikstad are usually a mid-table team, and the 2026 season seems similar. However, although being tenth in the standings after 12 league rounds, Casper Rojkjaer's team is only two points ahead of the relegation zone. Fredrikstad played well before the World Cup break, as they were unbeaten for three games in a row. The positive streak ended last weekend, when Rojkjaer's team lost 2-0 at home against Lillestrom. The teams were pretty even throughout the game, and the hosts probably deserved to score at least once, but eventually, the visitors' better efficiency was enough to leave Fredrikstad empty-handed.

After a defeat in the previous match, Fredrikstad's head coach, Casper Rojkjaer, was clear about what the difference was between the teams. He said, "When you don't take your chances, this is what can happen in football. It starts to affect the team mentally when we keep failing to convert our opportunities."

Sigurd Kvile is injured and will not play on Friday in Bodo. Also, Sondre Sorlokk is questionable, and his status will be clearer closer to the kickoff.
