Valerenga team overview
Valerenga suffered an unexpected relegation in 2023 but managed to return instantly. Then, in the last season, they had a really good campaign, finishing 6th. When everyone expected them to build on that momentum, they completely disappointed this year. After opening with two Eliteserien wins, they were atrocious and are looking worse and worse as the season progresses. The main issue this year is their road record, which is why these home games against teams near the bottom of the league table are particularly important.
After a 4:0 loss to Tromso in the previous game, coach Johannes Moesgaard spoke to the media. He admitted that he believed the team had gone past their previous defensive issues. The coach called the result unacceptable and said there are no excuses, saying they need to improve in every aspect of the game.

Aalesund team overview
Aalesund constantly traveled between Eliteserien and OBOS-Ligaen in the past few seasons. Last season, they managed to return to Eliteserien, and are only looking to survive this year. However, unlike Valerenga, who are in poor form, Aalesund are only getting better and better as the season progresses and are currently on a five-game unbeaten run. Still, they are on level with points with teams in the danger zone and have to continue with good performances.
After a 2:2 draw with Molde in the previous game, coach Kjetil Rekdal spoke to the media. He was pleased with the character his team showed, especially as they secured an equalizer in stoppage time. The coach praised the late response, the team's work rate, and their fighting spirit. Coach Rekdal noted there is still room for improvement, especially in possession.

Prediction
Valerenga just suffered a massive 4:0 loss to Tromso, their biggest loss of the season, following a 5:1 loss to Molde earlier this season. They have massive problems defensively, and beating teams with 2+ goals seems very challenging. This season, in 12 Eliteserien games, they only had two wins by two or more goals.
On the other hand, Aalesund are on a five-game unbeaten run. This season, including the NM Cup, Aalesund lost just twice by two or more goals in 15 games - a mere 13%. Also, on the road, they lost only three out of nine games across competitions.
Considering all the above, we believe that we should see a lot closer game than the odds suggest, and a road team to cover +1 AH seems like a very good option for this Eliteserien tie.
3 Reasons why Aalesund should cover the +1 AH spread
- Valerenga lost their last game 4:0 to Tromso
- Valerenga have a 33% win rate this season
- Aalesund lost just twice by 2+ goals in 15 games across competitions
