Vestri return to Iceland needing a huge turnaround in fortune after a difficult first-leg defeat in Azerbaijan.

The Icelandic Cup winners were already facing a major step up in class, and the scale of last week’s first-leg reversal has left them needing an improbable turnaround in Reykjavik. 

Vestri suffered further pain in their most recent domestic fixture, slipping to a 5:2 home defeat against Fylkir last weekend. 

Head coach Osafo-Badu has no reported injury issues but is expected to make changes to his first XI. Jacob Stensson, Gudmundur Pall Einarsson and Albin Morfelt are all in contention to earn recalls after substitute appearances in the first leg.

Qarabag arrive in Iceland with a commanding three-goal advantage after an impressive first-leg display.

Gurban Gurbanov’s side claimed a 3:0 win at Tofiq Behramov Stadium, with Zakaria Sawo opening the scoring after 30 minutes before Abdellah Zoubir doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time.

Renaldo Cephas came off the bench to add a third goal four minutes from time, leaving Qarabag in full control ahead of the return leg.

Competing in their first competitive fixture of the season, the Horsemen were comfortable for long spells in Baku and will be confident of easing to another victory this week.
