Watford have not secured promotion since dropping out of the Premier League at the end of the 2021-22 season.

The Hornets' best result since then came a year later, when they finished 11th in the Championship. The last two campaigns have seen them finish in 14th and 15th place respectively.

Head coach Javi Gracia was hoping to turn things around this season, but the team has not improved and is currently in 16th place after losing 1-0 to Sheffield United in their first game after the October international break.

However, fans can be encouraged by the fact that ten of the team’s 12 points so far this season were earned at Vicarage Road. Pierre Dwomoh will miss Wednesday’s game due to a thigh injury, but there are no suspensions in the squad.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich were relegated to the Championship in the 2021-22 season and have not secured promotion since.

The Baggies came very close to getting promoted two seasons ago when they finished fifth, but then lost in the play-offs. Currently in fifth place, just one point off the top of the standings, head coach Ryan Mason will be aiming for automatic promotion this time around.

However, to achieve this, the Albion will need to be more consistent, as they have struggled in this respect recently and have yet to win back-to-back games this season.
