Switzerland and Canada go head-to-head in a crucial Group B encounter on Wednesday evening.
The Swiss come into this World Cup fixture looking to secure their place in the knockout rounds after a commanding win against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Canada also sit on four points after a superb record-breaking victory against Qatar moved Jesse Marsch’s side top of the section on goal difference.
With both nations unbeaten after two matches, a tense and competitive contest could develop at BC Place. Canada only needs to avoid defeat to finish top of the group, while Switzerland will be determined to claim a victory that would move them above the co-hosts.
Switzerland team overview
Switzerland make the trip to Vancouver after a commanding 4:1 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina last week. Johan Manzambi came off the bench to score twice, while Ruben Vargas and Granit Xhaka were also on target in a dominant second-half display.
The Swiss had opened their campaign with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Qatar, but last week's victory over Bosnia leaves Murat Yakin’s side in a strong position to qualify from Group B.
Frequently involved in competitive and entertaining fixtures, the Swiss have seen BTTS land in all but one of their last eight international fixtures.
Yakin could be tempted to bring Manzambi into the starting XI after his match-winning impact against Bosnia. However, the Swiss boss may still prefer to keep the 20-year-old as an attacking option from the bench.

Canada team overview
Canada arrive at BC Place in high spirits after a superb 6:0 win against Qatar. The co-hosts had already earned a 1:1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina before producing one of the standout performances of the group stage.
Jonathan David scored a sensational hat-trick in a dominant and well-deserved victory for the Red and Whites, who secured their first-ever World Cup win in style.
Jesse Marsch’s side now sit top of Group B, and a draw would be enough to secure top spot in Group B. Canada have never reached the knockout rounds of a World Cup finals.
The co-hosts have been hit by a major injury blow, though. Ismaael Kone has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament after suffering a sickening broken leg against Qatar. Nathan-Dylan Saliba could continue in midfield after stepping in last time out.
Alphonso Davies could get some minutes after a lengthy injury layoff. The Bayern Munich star has yet to feature at the tournament after a hamstring issue.

Prediction
This should be a tight contest between two well-organised teams with plenty to play for. Switzerland have the experience, form and structure to frustrate Canada, but the co-hosts have momentum, home advantage and enough attacking quality to at least get on the scoresheet.
I have my money on both teams to score in what should prove an intriguing encounter in Vancouver.
Four Reasons we expect BTTS
- Switzerland have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 8 matches
- Canada have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 6 matches
- Switzerland scored at least one goal in 17 of their last 19 matches
