A competitive Allsvenskan contest is expected this weekend with IFK looking to take advantage of an out-of-form Elfsborg in Gothenburg.

The home side return to action in high spirits after a comfortable 3:1 win against Sirius secured a fourth win in five matches for Stefan Billborn’s men. A double strike from Max Fenger took his tally for the season to eight, in a routine victory for the Angels. 

Having won just one of their first five Allsvenskan home games of the campaign, IFK have since claimed back-to-back victories at Gamla Ullevi, including a 1:0 win against title-chasing Malmo at the end of May. 

Contrastingly, Elfsborg make the trip to Gothenburg now winless in four matches after a 2:0 home reversal against Hacken last week. After winning five successive league games in May,  Oscar Hiljemark's men have picked up just one point from their next three Allsvenskan encounters.

While the visitors boast a strong road record, their recent form suggests they could struggle against an IFK side gaining confidence at the Gamla Ullevi. Stefan Billborn's side claimed a 1:0 win when these sides last met at this venue, and a similar outcome should not be discounted this weekend.

I'm backing IFK to at least avoid defeat in what should prove a tight contest in Gothenburg.
