Hungary team overview
After securing UEFA Nations League A in 2022 and then following up with an appearance in EURO 2024, most people expected the Hungarians to continue with strong performances. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, as they instantly suffered relegation from UEFA Nations League A and then failed to secure a World Cup appearance. In the Qualifiers, they won only eight points and finished 3rd in a group with Portugal, Ireland, and Armenia. To be fair, they had a chance to secure 2nd place and the WC Playoffs, but lost a crucial home game to Ireland, which dropped them to the 3rd spot. However, after the Qualifiers, they did fine in friendlies, securing seven points against solid teams Finland, Greece, and Slovenia.
After a 2:1 win over Finland, coach Marco Rossi spoke to the media. He was satisfied with the victory and said it was an important victory to gain confidence ahead of the autumn UEFA Nations League campaign. The coach praised the younger and less experienced players during the June camp, stating they showed enthusiasm and quality both in training and matches.

Kazakhstan team overview
In recent years, Kazakhstan have shown some improvement, going from UEFA Nations League D to B. However, their progress took a big hit in these World Cup Qualifiers, considering they finished 4th in Group J with Belgium, Wales, North Macedonia, and Liechtenstein. Their only two wins in the Qualifiers came against one of the worst NTs in the World, Liechtenstein. However, after coach Talgat Baysufinov took over the team in late 2025, the team's performances improved drastically.
After a 1:1 draw with Armenia, coach Talgat Baysufinov spoke to the media. He wasn't satisfied with the result but said they fought well and wanted to win. The coach said Armenia is a difficult opponent and suggested the team showed commitment throughout the match.

Prediction
Hungary have done well lately across competitions. They won two of the past three games against solid competition. Moreover, looking further back, they have lost just once in the past seven games. Yes, that loss was an important one against Ireland in the World Cup Qualifiers, but the overall results were pretty good.
Kazakhstan also had some success lately, losing just once in the past seven games. However, almost all of their good results came at home. On the road, they have struggled, beating only Liechtenstein in the past 15 games and losing 12 of those matches. They are a team that heavily relies on their home pitch, and we believe they will have a hard time on the road against Hungary.
Considering all the above, but especially Kazakhstan's terrible road record, we expect a fairly dominant win for Hungary on home soil in Debrecen.
3 Reasons why Hungary should win and cover the -1.5 AH spread
- Hungary won two of the previous three games against solid competition
- Kazakhstan have won once in the past 15 road games across competitions
- Kazakhstan lost 12 of the past 15 road games - 80%
