Sirius travel to Solna on Saturday afternoon looking to protect an impressive lead at the top of the Allsvenskan table. The Blue-Blacks have turned plenty of heads already this season and, honestly, it no longer feels like a lucky early run. AIK, meanwhile, continue searching for consistency after another uneven start to the campaign. There is still quality in Jose Riveiro’s squad, especially going forward, however the gap between these teams right now looks difficult to ignore completely.

Allsvenskan
Since 2022, AIK and Sirius have met eight times in the Allsvenskan with very little separating the sides overall. Sirius hold a slight edge after three victories, including wins in the last two meetings, while AIK have won twice. Three matches ended level, and goals have generally arrived at a steady rate with an average of 2.5 per game.
AIK team overview
AIK’s gradual decline over the last couple of seasons has become harder for supporters to overlook. The Gnaw finished third back in 2024, dropped to seventh last year and now sit ninth after another inconsistent opening stretch. Even so, recent results have at least restored a little optimism around Friends Arena.
Jose Riveiro’s side picked up four points from the last two league matches, including an impressive comeback win against Hammarby. AIK fell behind early in the second half that afternoon, yet responded with far more energy and aggression afterward. Performances like that probably explain why many fans still believe this squad can improve significantly.
The concern remains the home form. The Gnaw have lost their last two matches at Friends Arena and continue conceding too many avoidable goals. Johan Hove should again play a key attacking role after scoring three times already this season, while Bersant Celina and Zadok Yohanna are expected to support him further forward. Martin Ellingsen remains unavailable through injury.

Sirius team overview
Sirius have developed into one of the stories of the Swedish season so far. After finishing ninth in each of the previous two campaigns, the Blue-Blacks suddenly look like genuine title contenders under Andreas Engelmark.
Winning eight of the opening nine league games is impressive enough on its own. Doing it while scoring freely almost every week makes the rise even more convincing.
The attacking numbers especially stand out. Sirius have scored at least twice in every league match this season and arrive on a four-game winning streak after producing ten goals during that run. There is confidence flowing through the side right now, and you can usually spot it in the speed of their passing and movement around the penalty area.
Away form is perhaps the only small concern. The only match Sirius failed to win this season came on the road. Engelmark also faces a defensive problem after centre back Mohamed Soumah was sent off against GAIS and now misses this weekend through suspension.

Prediction
Sirius look capable of extending their remarkable start to the season, although this trip to Friends Arena may prove more awkward than recent results suggest. AIK still carry attacking threat and usually raise their intensity in bigger domestic fixtures. Even so, the Blue-Blacks simply appear sharper and more confident right now. With goals arriving consistently and momentum fully behind them, Sirius look well placed to edge an entertaining contest and leave Stockholm with a 2-1 victory.
Four reasons we expect Sirius to win
- Sirius have won 8 of their 9 league games this season.
- AIK boast only one win from their last five matches.
- Sirius have scored 2+ goals in all their 9 games so far this season.
- AIK have finished only one of their 9 games this season without conceding.
Main prediction -
to win
