Brann vs Sarpsborg 08 prediction 29.05.2026 | Eliteserien

Brann come into Friday’s Eliteserien encounter after a 3:1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt last weekend. Three goals conceded in the first hour ensured a fruitless away day reversal for Freyr Alexandersson’s side. 

A tough start to the Eliteserien season has seen Brann face seven away fixtures in their first 11 games of the campaign. At home, the Pride of Bergen have picked up victories in both of their last two games at Brann Stadion. 

A high-scoring outcome should be on the cards in Friday’s Eliteserien encounter. Brann have seen over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last nine matches and in all but one of eight previous fixtures against Sarpsborg, including a 4:1 win on the road last season.

Head coach Alexandersson has a lengthy list of absentees this week. Sakarias Opsahl (foot), Nana Kwame Boakye (knee), Sævar Atli Magnússon (meniscus), Niklas Castro (Achilles), Eggert Aron Gudmundsson (meniscus) and Mathias Dyngeland (hamstring) are all ruled out through injury, while Denzel De Roeve is also unavailable.

Sarpsborg make the trip to Brann Stadion after a fine 2:1 win against Molde last weekend. Anders Hiim’s first goal of the season secured victory for Even Sel’s side.

While 08 have picked up victories in both of their last two home fixtures, recent road performances have been less impressive. Sarpsborg lost each of their last four away Eliteserien encounters. 

Before their recent home wins against Molde and Frederikstad (2:1), Sel’s men had lost four while failing to win each of six previous fixtures. The visitors now sit ninth in the division, two points behind Brann.

Head coach Sel has three expected absentees this weekend. Frederik Carstensen and Camil Mmaee are both unavailable through injury, while Michael Opoku is ruled out with a broken ankle.
