How to calculate income?
Every bettor probably wants to know how much they can win or lose in the long run.
However, usual calculations of profits/losses don’t fully tell you how effective a bet was – they just don’t take into account the money that you put into it.
To solve this, we’d decided to employ the help of ROI, which is often used in business. Below we explain what ROI means and how to calculate it.
In business, ROI shows how effective investment is. In our example we use the simplest ROI calculation formula to analyse the bet value:
ROI = (Money won - money staked) / money staked * 100%
Example: the player's bankroll is 1000$, and they placed 20 bets 50$ each. Some bets won, some lost, and in the end, the player had $1200. So, the ROI is (1200 - 1000) / 1000 * 100% = 20%
Bankroll management
We’re using the Flat system in our calculations. It is the easiest betting system. You simply bet the same amount all the time, no matter what the odds, bankroll or event probability are.
Let’s assume our bankroll is 5000$. We’re going to bet a fixed 1% of our initial bankroll, which is $50.

Overall, we got 100 bets. 55 out of those had the positive outcome, and 45 didn’t.
Calculation of key performance indicators
Winrate is the percentage of winning events.
Winrate: 55/100 * 100% = 55%
Now let’s calculate the average odds of all our bets. To do this, we combine all the played odds and divide them on the number of events.
Average odds = 2,05
ROI Calculation
Our bankroll became 5117.50$ after all bets. So in just a few days we increased it by 117.50$.
Bet amount: 100 * 50$ = 5000$
Money won: 5117,5$
ROI = (5117,5 - 5000) / 5000 * 100% = 2.35%
This is the simplest way to calculate ROI. In the next article, we will explain how to do calculations using odds along with a dynamic bankroll.
Short takeaway
In just one week we managed to increase our bankroll by 2.35%. It is up to you to decide whether it is a big or a small increase. However, keep in mind that we used the simplest and safest betting strategy.
