After two excellent seasons, it seems that the 2026/27 campaign could be significantly more challenging for Villarreal. It is still early in the season, but they have collected only 12 points after 11 league rounds and will have to do much better to finish among the top five La Liga teams. Villarreal have problems in the Champions League, too, with three points in three rounds. Previously, Villarreal lacked consistency, with only two victories in five matches across all competitions. In the most recent outing, they lost 1-0 at home against Espanyol. The hosts had stats on their side, but their poor efficiency cost them points.
