Torino team overview

Torino return to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino after a 2:0 defeat at high-flying Frosinone in Serie A  last weekend.

Fares Ghedjemis opened the scoring shortly after half-time before Giacomo Calo’s stoppage-time goal condemned Ignazio Abate's men to another disappointing result.

Sunday's defeat followed a 3:1 home loss against Como. Che Adams gave Torino an early lead, but three goals conceded in the last ten minutes completed a remarkable turnaround for Cesc Fabregas’s side.

The Granata had enjoyed a three-game winning run before their recent blip, beating Udinese 2:1, Parma 3:0 and Monza 3:2.

Despite their recent defeats, Torino remain inside the top half of the division with 13 points secured from ten games.

Recent home form has been inconsistent. Torino have won two and lost three of their five league fixtures at the Olimpico, scoring seven goals and conceding ten.

Past encounters with Lecce at this venue should raise confidence, though. Torino won four of five meetings against the Wolves since 2020.

Head coach Abate has several injury issues to deal with this weekend. Niccolo Fortini, Ricardo Rodriguez, Alessio Cacciamani and Rolando Mandragora are expected to miss out.

Che Adams and Giovanni Simeone should continue to lead the hosts’ attack.

Lecce

Lecce team overview

Lecce make the trip to Turin looking to bounce back from a 2:1 home defeat against Genoa in Serie A on Sunday evening.

Milutin Osmajic and Junior Messias put Genoa two in front inside the first half-hour before Youssef Maleh pulled one back from a deflected free-kick.

The out-of-form visitors have now suffered defeats in each of their last three fixtures. Lecce lost 5:1 away to Frosinone and 2:0 at home to Juventus before their latest disappointment.

Since an opening day win at Venezia, Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have since lost seven of their next nine Serie A fixtures.

Coming into this weekend’s contest, Lecce sit 14th in the division with only nine points picked up from ten matches.

Defensive problems remain a major concern for the away side. The Wolves leaked 21 goals in ten games this season, averaging over two goals per match.

Di Francesco is unable to call on several first-team players this weekend.Ivan Ilic, Joel Monteiro and Santiago Pierotti are ruled out while Medon Berisha is unlikely to feature.

Lassana Coulibaly and Willem Geubbels also face fitness checks, but Kialonda Gaspar is available after completing a suspension.
