Real Madrid comes into Thursday’s re-arranged La Liga contest looking to bounce back after a 2:0 defeat at Barcelona saw the Catalans crowned champions for a second consecutive season. 

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side are now all but assured of a second-place finish, with Villarreal eight points behind Real with just three games to play.

The hosts have gone off the boil in the final weeks of the season, failing to win six of eight fixtures since the start of April.

In the absence of Kylian Mbappe, Real have struggled to find much fluency in attack. Arebola's side scored just seven goals in their last six league fixtures. 

Outgoing boss Arbeloa has a lengthy list of absentees this week. Arda Güler (thigh), Dani Carvajal (leg), Dani Ceballos (thigh), Federico Valverde (head), Ferland Mendy (ligament), Rodrygo (cruciate ligament) and Éder Militão (thigh) are all ruled out through injury. Dean Huijsen and Kylian Mbappé are both doubtful to feature.

Real Oviedo return to La Liga action after a hard-fought goalless draw against Getafe last weekend. In a bad-tempered contest, Javi López and Kwasi Sibo both saw red but the already-relegated visitors held on for a point at Carlos Tartiere.

A first top flight campaign in 25 years has proven a disappointment for Oviedo, with Guillermo Almada’s side rooted to the bottom of the division with just 29 points collected. 

Still, the visitors have shown some fight in the final weeks of the season, scoring three wins and losing just two of their last eight La Liga fixtures. However, with only ten points collected on their travels, Oviedo are unlikely to pick up anything from Thursday’s trip to the Bernabeu.

Head coach Almada will be forced into at least two changes to his first XI. Javi López and Kwasi Sibo are both suspended following red cards against Getafe, while Eric Bailly (broken nose) is ruled out through injury. Leander Dendoncker is doubtful with a muscle issue.
