Although Lech Poznan were far from dominant last season, they secured their second consecutive Ekstraklasa title. In the previous few years, Lech have grown into the best Polish team and should be the favorite for another domestic major trophy in the campaign that just started. Niels Frederiksen's side opened the new campaign impressively, claiming convincing victories in both the Polish Super Cup and the Champions League qualifiers. Lech returned to earth with a home draw in Ekstraklasa against Cracovia. The hosts didn't show much that time, and a draw felt the fairest outcome.  

After a disappointing draw against Cracovia over the weekend, Lech head coach Niels Frederiksen admitted his side's performance was well below the expected standard. He commented, "We should have been better with the ball at our feet, which would have allowed us to create more chances. That's something we lacked a bit today, that quality on the ball. When it comes to playing without the ball, we didn't allow our opponent much; they certainly had a few chances, and it's hard to avoid any. To sum up today's match, we should expect a better performance from ourselves."

Lech Poznan have some problems with injuries. They will be without Alex Douglas and Ali Gholizadeh on Wednesday night against Aarhus.

After so many seasons in which Aarhus were usually a typical mid-table team, they shockingly secured the Superliga title. Jakob Poulsen's team didn't change their squad significantly this summer, and many expected Aarhus to build on that success. However, their early performances in the 2026/27 campaign indicate they may be in for a much tougher season. After a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Lech in the Champions League qualification, Poulsen's team played only 1-1 at home against Brondby. However, it is important to note that we have seen some improvements in the Superliga opener, in which Aarhus probably deserved more than one point.

Aarhus' boss Jakob Poulsen was satisfied with the team's improvement in the last match. He commented, "I think we played a decent game, with periods where we were better in the first half and a little worse in the second. Overall, I felt we had the match well under control. Brondby might say the same, because there weren't many clear-cut chances."

Aarhus' goalkeeper received a red card last week against Lech and will serve a suspension on Wednesday in Poland. Besides him, the Danish side will be without injured Nicolai Poulsen, Luka Callo, Richmond Gyamfi, and Tobias Molgaard.
