Doncaster vs Bradford City prediction 06.09.2025 | League One

After three seasons in League Two, Doncaster returned to the third level of English football. Most pundits saw them in the relegation battle in the 2025/26 season, but the manager, Grant McCann, is doing an excellent job with his team, so they are currently in a surprising playoff position. Doncaster are in fantastic form lately as they have won the last four matches in all competitions. In the previous game, McCann's team won 2-1 at home in the EFL Trophy against Everton U21. The home side ended the match with an xG of 1.71, while the guests had only 0.55, so it is not surprising that Doncaster secured another victory. 

The only negative about Doncaster's victory in the previous round of the EFL Trophy is that one of the two goal-scorers, Brandon Hanlan, suffered an injury late in the second half. His status for Saturday's game is currently unclear. Robbie Gotts will not play against Bradford City, while Luke Molyneux is questionable, and his status will be clearer closer to the kickoff. 

Bradford City returned to League One after six years of football in the fourth tier. Like Doncaster, most saw Graham Alexander's team as the team that should focus on avoiding relegation. Instead, Bradford City are currently third with two points fewer than the league leader, Cardiff. Bradford City are still unbeaten in all competitions in the new season. In the previous game, they won 2-1 at home in the EFL Trophy against Grimsby. Although the guests played with ten players for almost the whole game, Bradford City needed two goals late in the game to seal the victory. 

Bradford City doesn't have big problems with injuries. Neill Byrne and Lewis Richards are injured and will not play on Saturday afternoon, while Calum Kavanagh and Matthew Pennington are questionable.
