After two years in which they finished 9th and 8th, most people thought Werder Bremen could finally return to the battle for European spots. However, that couldn't be further from the truth as the Green-Whites found themselves just one spot above the danger zone. At the moment, they are in 15th place with a mere 32 points in 33 rounds. That is around 0.5 points per game fewer than last year! 

Right full-back Yukinari Sugawara received a red card in the previous game against Hoffenheim and will not be available for the last game of the season. His absence is a massive blow for Werder, as he has been one of their best players over the past few games. 

Julian Malatini, Keke Topp, Mitchell Weiser, Leonardo Bittencourt, and Karl Hein should remain sidelined with their injuries, while Isaac Schmid is listed as questionable after sustaining an injury in the previous game vs Hoffenheim.

Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, had a pretty good season overall. Maybe they could have better campaigns in the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League, but their run in the Bundesliga was fantastic. Throughout the season, they were fairly close to Bayern Munich, which had an amazing season. However, after losing three of the past five Bundesliga games, it became clear the title is out of question. Still, with 70 points in 33 rounds, the Prussians have to be satisfied. Regardless of what happens in the last game of the season, they will finish in 2nd place. 

According to German media reports, Ramy Bensebaini will most likely miss the upcoming match with a foot injury. In one interview, coach Niko Kovac said the season is probably over for Ramy and that he will most likely return for the World Cup. Moreover, Emre Can is ruled out with a knee injury.
