Uruguay recorded a surprising draw against Saudi Arabia in the first round (1:1) and then recorded an even more surprising one (2:2) against Cape Verde. In both games, they were a better team but simply couldn't finish the job. Their offense just couldn't convert the chances. That is something they have struggled with in the preparation period. Now, they have an incredibly tough job as they have to win all three points to advance. Considering they failed to win in the past six games across competitions, we can safely say that it will be a challenge. 

After a 2:2 draw, coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media. He said they were highly disorganized and that they could both win and lose the match. The experienced coach took responsibility for the defensive mistakes, saying he was to blame. 

Spain, the reigning EURO champions, came to the World Cup as one of the main favorites for the title. However, they opened the tournament with a goalless draw against Cape Verde, which was probably the biggest surprise of the World Cup. The Spaniards bounced back and performed well in the second match, beating Saudi Arabia 4:0. After watching their first two games, it was evident they were super-dependent on Lamine Yamal. To be fair, he played only the first half against Saudi Arabia, but that was more than enough to make an impact on the game. 

Now, the situation for Spain is that they secured the knockout round even with a loss. With a win, they would clinch the top spot, but most likely with a draw as well. 

For now, there is no official update on Yamal's injury. However, we believe the young star could be on the field for at least the first 45 minutes, just like in the Saudi Arabia game.
