UCL qualification action takes place on Tuesday evening as Welsh hosts TNS take on Azerbaijani visitors Sabah FK.

The hosts come into this second-leg contest needing to overturn a two-goal deficit after suffering a 2:0 defeat in Baku last week.

Sabah FK make the trip to Oswestry in control of the tie but will need to maintain performance levels to secure their place in the next round.

With TNS forced to chase the game, an entertaining second-leg contest could develop at Park Hall.

TNS team overview

TNS return to Park Hall looking for a big response after a disappointing first-leg defeat in Azerbaijan.

Craig Harrison’s side suffered a 2:0 defeat against Sabah FK in Baku, with two second-half goals leaving the Welsh champions with plenty of work to do in the return leg.

TNS spent long spells without possession in Azerbaijan, but Harrison’s side managed to keep the tie alive until late in the contest.

The Saints will now require much more attacking ambition at Park Hall if they are to trouble Sabah on Tuesday.

Head coach Harrison handed competitive debuts to summer signings Dynel Simeu and Rhys Hughes in the first leg, while fellow new arrivals Isaac Godwin and Zach Nolan were named on the bench.

Harrison could freshen up his selection for the return fixture, with Ryan Brobbel and Danny Davies both in contention to earn recalls after substitute appearances in the first leg.

Sabah

Sabah FK team overview

Sabah FK arrive in Wales with a two-goal advantage after a strong performance in the first leg.

Valdas Dambrauskas’s side claimed a 2:0 win in Baku, with Veljko Simic heading home the opener after 66 minutes before substitute Kaheem Parris added a second six minutes from time.

The Azerbaijani champions were the better side for much of the contest, with Aaron Malouda proving a regular threat down both flanks. Joy-Lance Mickels and Akim Zedadka also missed good headed chances before the interval.

Before last week’s clean sheet, Sabah had conceded at least one goal in each of their last seven matches. Six of those games finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Sabah finished the first leg with ten men after Steve Solvet was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time. The defender is suspended for Tuesday’s second leg, leaving Dambrauskas with at least one change to make to his first XI.

Aden McCarthy could come into the backline, while Kaheem Parris is pushing for a start after scoring from the bench in Baku.

Prediction

TNS need to be more aggressive at Park Hall, but Sabah FK should have enough quality to avoid defeat.

With the hosts chasing a two-goal deficit, we should see an open contest in Wales.

BTTS is my best bet on Tuesday.

Three Reasons Why We Expect BTTS

  1. TNS need to score at least twice to stay alive in the tie
  2. TNS have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 matches
  3. Sabah have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 7 matches.
