Luis García’s side have now lost five of their last six league matches and sit inside the relegation zone, two points adrift of safety.

Two wins from 12 games played since the start of February highlight the hosts’s struggles, while five defeats from seven previous matches against Sociedad will offer little encouragement this week. 

Head coach Garcia has two potential absentees this week. Djibril Sow is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards, while Marcão is doubtful with a minor injury issue.

Real Sociedad arrive at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán after picking up a point in a thrilling 3:3 draw at Rayo Vallecano last week. Mikel Oyarzabal’s brace looked likely to secure victory before Alemao rescued a point with a dramatic 99th minute equaliser. 

While winless in two La Liga games since their thrilling Copa del Rey triumph against Atletico Madrid last month, Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side have been tough to beat this year. Sociedad lost only four of their last 23 fixtures. 

A solid recent record in this contest wille give the visitors further optimism on Monday. Real are unbeaten in seven of their last nine matches against the out-of-form home side.

Head coach Matarazzo has a couple of selection concerns ahead of the trip to the Basque country. Igor Zubeldia (hamstring) is ruled out through injury, while Gonçalo Guedes faces a late fitness test.
