A crucial fixture in the fight for League One promotion takes place on Thursday evening as Salford City takes on league leaders Bromley.

The hosts come into this fixture boosted by a weekend away win at Oldham while Bromley stand on the verge of promotion after a goalless draw against Oldham.

Salford have had the edge in recent meetings between these sides, but will need to be at their best to claim victory at Peninsula Stadium.

Salford City

Salford City team overview

Salford City maintained their slim hopes of automatic promotion from League Two with a fine 2:1 win on the road at Oldham last weekend. Goals from Adebola Oluwo and Daniel Udoh secured the points for Karl Robinson’s side.

Thursday’s hosts have been in largely excellent form in recent weeks, recording seven wins and only two defeats in their last ten League Two fixtures. Salford now sit fourth in the division, five points behind second-placed MK Dons with two games still to play in the regular season.

While unlikely to close that gap, Robinson’s men are all but assured of an end-of-season playoff spot.

Particularly strong in recent games at Peninsula Stadium, Salford secured wins in all but one of six previous home fixtures.

Head coach Robinson is likely to stick with the same XI that overcame Oldham last time out. Ollie Turton is the only confirmed absentee for the home side.

Bromley

Bromley team overview

Bromley make the trip to Peninsula Stadium having edged closer to automatic promotion with a hard-fought goalless draw against promotion rivals Cambridge last weekend.

While now winless in four of their last five matches, Andy Woodman’s side remain top of the division, six points clear of the U’s, albeit having played one game more. Bromley now require only four points from two remaining fixtures to secure their place in League One for the first time in their history.

The league leaders have struggled in recent road trips though, falling to defeat in two of their last three away fixtures while they have won only one of their last seven on their travels.

Head coach Woodman has no reported injury issues and is expected to retain faith in the same side that began last weekend’s draw against Cambridge.
