Rosario Central come into this one needing a reaction after that frustrating Torneo Apertura semi-final loss to River Plate on Saturday. Jorge Almirón’s side never really looked comfortable in attack. The Canalla managed just one shot on target before slipping to a narrow 1-0 defeat.

Still, one poor night probably does not erase the progress this squad has made. That result ended a nine-match unbeaten streak, which is no small thing. At the Gigante de Arroyito, Rosario Central remain especially tough to handle.

The Canalla are unbeaten in eight straight home matches, with six wins during that stretch. Libertadores nights there can become chaotic for visiting sides. The noise, the pressure, the sense that momentum shifts very quickly.

Enzo Copetti, already with two goals in the competition, should again lead the line. Juan Giménez remains out with a knee injury, while Juan Cruz Komar is still unavailable due to heart-related problems.

Universidad Central arrive in Argentina unbeaten in five matches, although there is probably a slight frustration around the number of draws lately. The Ucevistas played out a goalless game away to Deportivo La Guaira last time out, making it back-to-back draws for Daniel Sasso’s side.

Away form is still the big question mark around Universidad Central. The Venezuelan side have not won any of their last five matches away from home, losing three in that stretch.

Even so, Universidad Central are not completely harmless going forward. Camilo Zapata has already scored once in the Libertadores and should again lead the attack. Jovanny Bolívar, who also found the net earlier in the competition, is expected to play just behind him. There is at least some pace and directness there, which could trouble Rosario Central if space opens up.

One small advantage for Daniel Sasso’s side, however, is squad availability. No injury or suspension issues heading into the trip.
