Last season, these teams met three times. Fulham won 2:0 at home, while the other two games at Newcastle (one in the EPL and one in the EFL Cup) finished with a 2:1 win for the Magpies. Looking further back, over the past ten h2h games, Fulham won three times, while Newcastle won seven times.
When it comes to the number of goals, six of those ten head-to-head games ended with three or more goals. Meanwhile, both teams scored in five of those ten h2h games.
Fulham team overview
Fulham had a slow start to the season under coach Arbeloa, and many football pundits started to doubt them. Still, from watching the games, it was evident they are playing well, and it is only a matter of time before they start collecting good results. And indeed, they have collected seven points in the previous three games, climbing to 15th place with nine points in total. Even in the games they failed to win, like in the EFL Cup against Crystal Palace and in the EPL against Aston Villa, the Cottagers played very well. Right now, the Cottagers look like a mid-table team at minimum.
Fulham should have the entire squad available after Ryan Sessegnon served his three-game ban after receiving a red card in the Hull City game.

Newcastle team overview
Newcastle's season has been a completely different story. They suffered massive chances, and when everyone expected a terrible start, they had a great one! However, after that initial start, they pretty much crumbled, and it seems they are only getting worse and worse. In the previous five games, they lost four games, including the EFL Cup 1/8 Finals game against Everton. Looking through the numbers, the Magpies are among the worst teams in the league in xG, xG conceded, number of big chances, shots on target, interceptions, etc...
Jacob Ramsey received a red card in the previous game and will serve his one-game suspension against Fulham. Ewen Jaouen, Valentino Livramento, and Lewis Miley should remain sidelined with their injuries, while Matias Fernandez-Pardo should be ready after missing the previous game due to illness.

Prediction
Fulham won seven points in the previous four games across competitions, but we could easily see them winning all four matches. They were particularly impressive in the last game against Aston Villa when they drew 1:1 but were a better team and deserved at least one or two more goals, but Suzuki was brilliant and saved the Villans.
Newcastle, on the other hand, are struggling. They lost four of the past five games and five of the past seven. In recent games, they have had massive problems with efficiency, and we could see that this will suddenly change. Even if Pardo is back from illness, we doubt his return will help much.
Considering all the above, Fulham to win is the safest option for this Premier League tie.
3 Reasons why Fulham should win
- Fulham won seven points in the past four games
- Newcastle lost four of the past five matches
- Fulham won 2:0 in the previous game at Craven Cottage
