France are probably the best team at the World Cup so far. They won all six games pretty comfortably, and for them, the real tournament starts in the semifinals. Didier Deschamps had only problems in the 1/8 final when they met Paraguay. Already in the next game, France again showed their masterclass, beating Morocco 2-0. The final result doesn't sound too dominant, but Les Blues ended the match with an xG of 3.68, while the opponents had only 0.25, and anything other than another French victory would feel pretty unfair. 

France's biggest strength is its offense. Quartet of Dembele, Olise, Mbappe, and Barcola/Doue seems pretty unstoppable. The team scored 16 goals in six World Cup games. The French defense is working almost flawlessly, having conceded only two goals so far. 

Based purely on the eye test, Spain have not been as impressive as France at this World Cup. However, a look at the results tells a different story: they have won five of their six matches, with their only setback being a 0-0 draw against Cape Verde in their opening game of the tournament. In the knockout phase, they first trashed Austria 3-0. After that came two much harder victories, 1-0 against Portugal and 2-1 against Belgium. In the quarter and 1/8 final, Spain won, but both times their winning goals came in the late stages of the games. 

Spain showed their usual style at the World Cup. They dominated possession in almost every game, and their opponents had few opportunities to score. Eventually, Spain conceded only one goal in six games so far. On the other hand, Luis de la Fuente's team had some issues offensively. Lamine Yamal is not in his best form, while Nico Williams, the other player who should create some width, played for only 57 minutes across the tournament. Also, Spain lacks more quality solutions in the striker position. Mikel Oyarzabal was great in some games, but in others, it seemed de la Fuente's team would benefit from a more traditional forward in that position.
