This one feels heavier than it first looks. Manchester City, sitting second, are chasing the title, so every game now carries real pressure. Everton, in 11th, still have a faint European hope, even if it’s a stretch. The gap is big, but the motivation is there on both sides.

Since 2021, these sides have met 12 times, and the Citizens have had things mostly their own way with nine wins. The Toffees, by comparison, have just one victory, plus a couple of draws along the way. You do tend to get goals in this fixture, about 2.7 per game on average. Not always a classic, but usually enough to keep you watching.
Everton team overview
The Toffees have hit a slightly rough patch. Three games without a win, and back to back 2-1 defeats against Liverpool and West Ham, suggest a team that competes but falls short in key moments. That said, performances at the Hill Dickinson Stadium have been more encouraging.
Before that narrow loss to Liverpool, Everton recorded two straight home wins with clean sheets against Burnley and Chelsea. You could see a more disciplined side in those matches, sitting deeper and picking moments carefully. It does not always look pretty, but it can be effective.
There is some positive news. Beto is back in training after missing the West Ham game due to concussion protocols, and he should be available.
His physical presence up front does make a difference. However, injuries remain an issue. Jack Grealish and Jarrad Branthwaite are still out, which limits options, particularly in defense.

Manchester City team overview
Pep’s side seem to be peaking at the right time again, which is slightly ominous if you are an Arsenal fan. The Citizens have strung together a six match winning run and keeping four clean sheets along the way. There is also silverware in hand, with the League Cup secured, and an FA Cup final on the horizon.
Still, the title race adds pressure. Depending on results elsewhere, City could be chasing a gap, and that changes the approach slightly. Experience helps, of course. This group has been through similar situations before.
Away form, though, is not flawless. Two wins in the last four on the road is decent, but not dominant by their standards.
Jeremy Doku’s impact off the bench against Southampton should earn him a start here, adding pace and unpredictability. Dias and Gvardiol remain out injured, while Rodri is a doubt.

Prediction
Manchester City should edge this, though it may not be straightforward. Pep’s side are pushing for the title and arrive with a strong winning run, which matters. Everton, however, have been competitive at home and rarely go quietly. With City scoring freely but not always watertight away, a 2-1 win for the Citizens feels about right.
Three reasons we expect over 2.5 goals
- Manchester City scored 2+ goals in each of their last three trips to Everton.
- Bets on over 2.5 goals won in each of the last four games of Everton.
- Man City finished only one of their last five away games without conceding.
