Young Boys have dominated this fixture, winning 33 of their previous 53 meetings against FC Sion.
Sion claimed ten victories in that period, while ten matches finished level.
More recently, Sion are unbeaten in seven of their last eight encounters against Young Boys.
BSC Young Boys team overview
Young Boys return to Super League action looking to improve on a mixed run of form in pre-season friendly fixtures.
The Bern club failed to win any of their first three warm-up fixtures, before claiming victories in three of their four most recent contests. Gerardo Seoane’s men secured an eye-catching 5:3 win against Viktoria Plzen, before a comfortable 5:0 win against Etoile Carouge last weekend.
A disappointing end to last season’s campaign saw Young Boys fail to win six of their last eight games. The Yellow-Blacks eventually finished the season sixth in the division, eight points behind fourth-placed Sion.
Young Boys could hand competitive debuts to several summer arrivals this weekend.
Cedric Zesiger, Dominik Pech and Joel Mall among the new faces who could feature for the home side.

FC Sion team overview
FC Sion make the trip to Bern after picking up a 1:1 draw at BATE in their Conference League qualifier in neutral Azerbaijan on Thursday evening.
Having fallen behind in the 16th minute, Winsley Boteli Mokango levelled matters before half-time as Didier Tholot’s side emerged unscathed from a tricky first-leg encounter.
Les Sédunois have maintained their strong end to last season’s Swiss Super League campaign into their early season form. Sion scored 18 goals while winning four warm-up fixtures, including a 4:0 win against Ligue 2 side Annecy last weekend.
The visitors are now unbeaten in each of their last 16 matches since March.
Sion also produced an excellent attacking display when they last visited Stadion Wankdorf, claiming a 3:3 draw against Young Boys in May.
Head coach Tholot could freshen up his selection after Thursday’s draw in Azerbaijan. Josias Lukembila and Liam Chipperfield are both in contention to earn recalls to the starting XI after substitute appearances last time out.
Kreshnik Hajrizi is the only confirmed absentee for the visitors.

Prediction
An entertaining contest could be on the cards at Stadion Wankdorf.
Young Boys will be keen to make a positive start to their season, but they could struggle to overcome a Sion side that finished last season in great form.
An away win or draw is my best bet this weekend.
Three Reasons Why We Expect Sion to Win or Draw
- Sion are unbeaten in their last 15 matches
- BSC Young Boys failed to win 10 of their last 16 matches
- Sion are unbeaten in 7 of their last 8 matches against BS Young Boys
