AC Milan will carry plenty of confidence into their opening pre-season friendly, backed by an impressive run of five consecutive competitive victories over Celtic.
Celtic team overview
Saturday's contest will serve as the final dress rehearsal before the new campaign gets underway for Martin O'Neil's side. The Glasgow giants are looking to build on an outstanding last season in which they completed a domestic double by lifting both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup.
Their pre-season preparations have been focused on reaching peak condition for the competitive action ahead, although the results themselves have offered little encouragement. Celtic remain without a victory in three summer friendlies, drawing 1-1 with Shelbourne and Middlesbrough on either side of a heavy 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
With the Scottish Premiership set to kick off in just a few days, Celtic should hold a clear edge in terms of match sharpness and physical readiness over their Italian counterparts. O'Neil will be eager to see his side produce an energetic and disciplined display as they look to round off their preparations with a confidence-boosting result.
The hosts are expected to have almost a full squad available, with Cameron Carter-Vickers remaining the only notable absentee through injury. O'Neil is also likely to field his strongest available lineup for the opening hour, including highly-rated summer signing Camilo Duran, as he fine-tunes his team ahead of the league opener.

AC Milan team overview
AC Milan make the trip to Glasgow entering a new era after an eventful summer of change at San Siro. A disappointing fifth-place finish in Serie A last season left the Rossoneri without Champions League football, prompting significant changes both on and off the pitch.
The club have placed their trust in highly regarded Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, who faces the challenge of rebuilding the squad ahead of the new campaign. Saturday's contest marks Milan's first pre-season outing before they continue their preparations with a tour of Australia and Indonesia.
Amorim has had only a short period to work with his players and will be without several key internationals, who remain on extended leave following their involvement at the FIFA World Cup. Nevertheless, the Rossoneri enjoyed an encouraging start behind closed doors, cruising to a commanding 7-0 victory over Milan Futuro in a training match.
With a number of senior stars still unavailable, Milan are expected to field a mixed lineup featuring several youngsters and fringe players, while Amorim could also use the occasion to introduce his preferred three-man defensive system and continue implementing his tactical philosophy.

Prediction
Although AC Milan boast greater individual quality and a stronger reputation on paper, Celtic hold a significant advantage in terms of match sharpness and team cohesion. The Scottish champions will also benefit from home support and should be eager to respond after underwhelming performances against Sporting and Middlesbrough. Meanwhile, Milan remain in the early stages of Ruben Amorim's tactical project, with building fitness and avoiding injuries likely to take priority over the result.
We expect an entertaining contest in which both managers rotate heavily after the interval, a scenario that often leads to defensive lapses and opportunities at both ends of the pitch.
Four Reasons we expect BTTS - Yes
- BTTS has landed in all three of Celtic’s friendly matches.
- Celtic have seen both teams score in 10 consecutive matches across all competitions.
- AC Milan have failed to keep a clean sheet in four consecutive games.
- The last two meetings between these rivals produced a total of 10 goals, with BTTS being successful on both occasions.
