The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign begins with an intriguing Champions Path clash as Bosnian champions Borac Banja Luka welcome Bulgarian heavyweights Levski Sofia on Tuesday. With a place in the second qualifying round at stake, both clubs know that establishing an advantage before the return leg in Sofia could prove decisive.
Borac team overview
Borac enter the tie after another successful domestic campaign built upon defensive consistency. Throughout last season they conceded fewer goals than any other side in the Bosnian Premier League, while their home record once again proved one of the strongest in the division.
Vinko Marinović’s men enter this UCL qualification first-round tie having played four friendly matches as part of their preparation. A thumping 8-0 win over Jedinstvo Putevi and a narrow 1-0 victory against Sutjeska were followed by two winless outings against IMT (1-1) and Akhmat (1-3).
European experience should also benefit the Bosnian champions after memorable continental performances over the past two seasons, particularly at home where they have consistently frustrated superior opponents.
As of early July, Borac have no major long-term injury concerns reported, allowing their manager to field a squad close to full strength for arguably their biggest match of the summer.

Levski Sofia team overview
Levski Sofia arrive full of confidence after lifting the Bulgarian championship and finishing the season in excellent form. They enjoyed one of the league's strongest defensive records while also possessing greater attacking quality than many previous Levski sides.
Similarly to Borac, the Bulgarian champions also played four friendly matches in preparation for the first qualification round. They performed better than their Bosnian counterparts, going unbeaten in all four matches with two wins and two draws. In their two victories over Radnik and Etar, they scored a total of 11 goals.
Although Levski possess greater European pedigree than Borac, away matches in the Balkans are rarely straightforward. Their objective will likely be to remain compact defensively before attempting to exploit transitions through their technically gifted midfielders and wide players.
There are currently no significant injury absences expected for the Bulgarian champions, giving the coaching staff plenty of options ahead of the first leg.

Prediction
Borac's home advantage should help them compete throughout the 90 minutes, but Levski's superior pedigree and European experience could earn the Bulgarian champions a valuable away draw heading into the second leg. BTTS is a likely outcome.
Prediction: Both Teams to Score (BTTS).
Three reasons we expect BTTS
- Borac scored at least a goal in all four friendly fixtures prior to the start of the UEFA Champions League qualification.
- Levski Sofia were also potent in attack during a pre-season - scored in all four friendlies.
- Both teams are of a similar pedigree, with Levski Sofia holding perhaps a slight advantage heading into this fixture, but Borac’s home ground should give them an impetus to attack, which should result in BTTS.
