Belgium's biggest success at the World Cups was eight years ago, when they finished third. Most players from the golden generation have ended their careers, but two players, Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois, supported by a talented new crop of players, are hoping for another deep run in the tournament. 

After excellent qualifiers in which Belgium didn't lose, they continued with great form in recent months. Rudi Garcia's team is currently on a run of 13 matches without defeat. In June, Belgium first beat Croatia 2-0, and in the final test ahead of the World Cup, Garcia's team won 5-0 against Tunisia. 

Although De Bruyne is 34 years old, he remains the most important Belgian player and a key figure in organizing the midfield. His task in the current team is usually to transfer the ball to the very fast wings, especially Jeremy Doku, who is one of the fastest players in today's football. 

After missing out on the tournament in Qatar four years ago, Egypt are returning to the biggest stage. The Pharaohs have never had much success at the World Cup and will try to advance from the group stage for the first time. After an easy qualifier, Egypt played at the African Cup of Nations, where they ended fourth. Since then, Hossam Hassan's team has played in four friendlies and won two of them. In the most recent test, Egypt lost 2-1 against Brazil. 

Egypt have two superstars in the team, Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, and Egyptian fans have huge expectations. However, the team played too defensively recently, and Hassan was even on the verge of losing his job. In defense, they usually sit too deep with five defenders and two defensive midfielders. Salah and Marmoush stay up front, but they are usually too far away from the rest of the team, and they have big problems creating goal-scoring opportunities.
