AC Horsens return to the Danish Superliga after securing promotion from the First Division last season.

The hosts sealed their place back in the top flight with a 1:0 win against Kolding IF, with a strong end to the season helping them surge from sixth into second spot. AC picked up 13 points from their last five games, securing a return to the top flight for the first time since 2023. 

Horsens have gone through a tough pre-season campaign, though. Niki Zimling’s side won just one of five summer friendlies, with each of their three most recent contests ending in defeat. 

Still, a solid home record should give the Superliga newcomers confidence this weekend. Horsens lost just two of their last nine competitive fixtures at CASA Arena.

Summer arrivals Julius Korkko, Jimi Tauriainen and Omar Jarju are all in contention to make their competitive debuts for AC Horsens this weekend.

FC Nordsjaelland make the trip to Horsens looking to improve a poor run of results in their pre-season campaign. 

Jens Olsen’s side lost three while failing to win six of seven summer friendlies completed in the past month. 

The Tigers then faced a tough midweek trip to take on GAIS in a Conference League qualifier, a fixture that could leave the visitors somewhat fatigued for their first Superliga contest of the season. 

The visitors have been one of Denmark’s most exciting attacking sides in recent seasons, and their young squad should again offer plenty of quality again this year. A solid end to last season’s campaign saw Olsen’s men finish third in the Superliga having gone into the Championship round in sixth spot. 

Head coach Olsen has four new faces available this weekend. FC Nordsjaelland could hand Superliga debuts to summer arrivals Alexander Lind, Ibrahim Adel, Matej Tuka and William Faber.
