The 2026 FIFA World Cup starts today, and we are happy to announce that we’ll have a daily digest of the most interesting events of the tournament. MightyTips will provide a World Cup value bet of the day and a parlay of the day, make a prediction on all games of the Matchday, and provide some interesting facts about the tournament on a daily basis.

Match 1: Mexico vs South Africa, 21:00 CET, June 11
Match 2: South Korea vs Czechia, 05:00 CET, June 12
Mexico are a very solid defensive team - in eight friendlies played in 2026, they managed to keep six clean sheets, letting in just two goals against very strong opposition. Meanwhile, South Africa scored three goals in their previous four games, but just look at the opposition: Jamaica, Nicaragua and Panama (twice). I believe Mexico to win to nil at 1.90 is a very strong option.
The hosts will be aiming to control possession and dictate the tempo through their technical midfield, while South Africa’s energy and athleticism could make this an intriguing tactical battle. One key area to watch is how effectively Mexico can break down a disciplined defensive structure and create chances in the final third.
South Africa, meanwhile, will look to stay organised and capitalise on transitions whenever opportunities arise. The midfield contest should prove decisive, as both teams seek to establish control and limit space for their opponents. Set pieces may also play an important role in a match where fine margins could make all the difference.
South Korea and Czechia bring contrasting styles that should make for a fascinating encounter. South Korea’s pace, movement, and quick passing combinations will test the Czech defence, while Czechia’s physical presence and structured approach could pose problems at both ends of the pitch.
The battle in central areas will be particularly important, with both teams looking to gain territorial control and launch attacks from midfield. South Korea’s ability to stretch the game and create space may be a major factor, while Czechia will aim to remain compact and efficient in possession. Defensive organization and finishing quality could ultimately define the contest.

The 40-year-old Ochoa made it to his sixth World Cup - a unique feat, matched only by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It remains to be seen who’ll be Mexico’s main goalkeeper. Raúl Rangel is the most likely starter, yet Ochoa has an outside chance if Javier Aguirre prioritises experience. However, it looks like Ochoa will serve as an experienced backup and dressing-room leader rather than the starter.

The Mexico City Stadium (also known as Estadio Azteca) is the first arena in history to host three World Cup opening matches. It previously staged the tournament openers in 1970 and 1986.
