Zaglebie vs Piast Gliwice prediction 27.07.2026 | Ekstraklasa

In the recent few years, Zaglebie have mostly been a mid-table team. Last season, they finished 7th with 48 points in 34 rounds. They were super close to securing Europe, but after winning only one game in the last six games, they blew their opportunity and eventually missed it by two points. 

During the offseason, the club made some changes, but nothing drastic. Seven players left the club, and six arrived, but it is difficult to tell whether they got better or worse. We would argue that they are more or less around last season's level. Probably the best player of those who arrived is Filip Szymczak, who came on a free transfer from Lech Poznan.

Last year, Piast Gliwice barely secured survival, finishing 15th. In fact, if Lechia Gdansk hadn't had a five-point deduction, Piast Gliwice would have been relegated after 14 years in the Ekstraklasa! 

During the offseason, six players left the club, with the best among them being midfielder Grzegorz Tomasiewicz. On the other hand, five new players arrived. The general impression is that they did not improve their squad too much, and we believe they are expecting another battle against relegation. 

For the upcoming game, last season's first goalkeeper, Frantisek Plach, will miss the game due to injury. However, the club added Domen Grill as a replacement, who should start and probably be their first option this year.
