Wolves' results have constantly declined over the years. After a couple of years when they avoided relegation despite being fairly close, they did not manage to do the same last year. Now, they are one of the main candidates to go up, and the bookies see them as the second-best team in the league, only behind West Ham.

Often, when a team suffers relegation from the Premier League, a lot of key pieces leave. However, that did not happen here. Besides Joao Gomes, they did not lose too many key pieces while also adding some really good players. Therefore, the expectations should be high, and anything but a promotion would be a failure.

After a 3:0 win over Port Vale in the EFL Cup, coach César Peixoto spoke to the media. He praised the team's mentality and was happy to see them scoring three goals. However, he felt they made too many mistakes, especially in the defensive organization, which is something they must work on. 

Blackburn are playing their eighth consecutive season in the Championship. Incredibly, they haven't had a Playoff appearance in those eight years, despite coming close to it on a couple of occasions. However, last year they barely secured survival, finishing 20th - only five points away from the danger zone. 

Over the Summer, the Rovers failed to improve the team and may even have gotten slightly worse. So, expecting a great season without too many chances seems pretty unrealistic. At this moment, a mid-table finish seems like the best-case scenario for them. 

After a 2:1 win over Burton, coach Tony Mowbray spoke to the media. He was delighted with the win and said they created more than enough opportunities to win more comfortably. The coach added that they have to be more clinical in front of goal.
