An entertaining friendly fixture is set for Dublin on Wednesday as Manchester United face Leeds United.

The Red Devils come into the contest after earning a draw against European champions Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg.

Leeds should also come into this fixture in confident mood after a friendly win against RB Leipzig last weekend.

With both teams producing encouraging attacking performances this summer, an entertaining friendly seems likely in Dublin.

Manchester United

Manchester United team overview

Manchester United come into Wednesday’s fixture after some decent pre-season friendly results.

Michael Carrick’s side suffered a 1:0 defeat against Wrexham in their first fixture of the summer, before responding with impressive victories against Rosenborg (5:0) and Atletico Madrid (2:1).

United then earned a respectable 1:1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, with Bryan Mbeumo cancelling out Ibrahim Mbaye’s opening goal.

The Red Devils have now lost only one of their last ten games, and just three of Carrick’s 21 in charge since his appointment to United hotseat earlier this year.

High-scoring encounters have been frequent for Man Utd this year. Eleven of their last 15 games, including a 2:1 defeat against Leeds have seen at least three goals scored.

Head coach Carrick is likely to field a strong team this week. Mason Mount is doubtful after sustaining a foot injury during the draw against PSG while Manuel Urgate is a long-term absentee.

Marcus Rashford has joined the squad in Ireland following his return from Barcelona, although he is unlikely to feature after only recently resuming training.

Summer signings Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow could feature at Croke Park.

Leeds United

Leeds team overview

Leeds United make the trip to Dublin after producing an impressive run of pre-season results.

Daniel Farke’s side began their preparations with a 3:2 defeat against Wrexham but have since claimed three successive victories. Daniel Farke’s men edged past Sunderland (1:0) before coming from two goals down to claim an excellent 4:2 win against Liverpool.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored twice for the Peacocks in that fine victory.

Leeds maintained their winning momentum with a commanding 2:0 victory against RB Leipzig at Elland Road last weekend. Calvert-Lewin continued his fine form with an early opener before Lukas Nmecha’s stoppage-time goal secured victory.

Like Man Utd, the Whites have been involved in several high-scoring encounters, while also remaining difficult to beat. Farke’s men have seen over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last 13 games, while they have lost just three of 16 previous matches

Farke has no reported injury issues this week. Record signing James Trafford could feature at Croke Park following his summer arrival from Manchester City.
