Rosenborg vs Fredrikstad prediction 27.07.2026 | Eliteserien

Rosenborg finished 7th last season and failed to secure Europe. While no one really saw the 26-time-Norwegian champs battling for the title this year, no one expected them to be around the relegation zone. Before the break in June, they were, in fact, in the 15th spot out of 16 teams. However, that break came at the right moment, and after changing their coach, Rosenborg started playing better, as they won 3:0 against Kristiansund and Start (3:0 both). Now, they will have the chance to extend that streak against an out-of-form Fredrikstad. 

Midweek, Rosenborg faced off against Manchester United in a friendly match. Both teams rotated their squads, but MU eventually won 5:0. The coach, Freyr Alexandersson, said it was a friendly even during the first half, but acknowledged the second half was a different story as they struggled with MU's intensity, fresh substitutes, and the overall quality. At the end, he called it a valuable learning experience against top-level opposition.

Fredrikstad secured promotion to Eliteserien in 2023 and did very well in the next two seasons, finishing 6th and 8th. This year, they have been really inconsistent and had some really bad stretches. In late April and early May, they strung four losses in a row, which eventually led to sacking coach Andreas Hagen. His departure and Casper Røjkjær's arrival had a positive impact, but only for a short time. Now, after a break in June, Fredrikstad lost back-to-back games against Lillestrom and Bodo/Glimt and failed to score a goal. Even though they were the underdog in both games, it is still far from an ideal outcome, and they are definitely under pressure to win some points. 

Winger Oskar Ohlenschlaeger missed the previous game with an injury and will most likely remain sidelined. The 22-year-old has probably been Fredrikstad's best offensive player with two goals and two assists thus far, and his absence could be a massive factor.
