Real Oviedo come into Sunday's La Liga fixture now winless in six matches after a narrow 1:0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao before the international break. Nico Williams' first-half goal proved the difference-maker at San Mames.

Competing in Spain's top flight for the first time in almost a quarter of a century has proven a daunting challenge for Luis Miguel Carrion's side. Oviedo have won just two of 12 games played, with only eight points collected from 12 games completed.

While only two points short of safety, a poor home record continues to undermine Oviedo's hopes of avoiding an immediate return to the Segunda Division. Los Azules lost three, while failing to win each of their last four games at Carlos Tartiere Stadium.

Head coach Carrion has a handful of injury issues to deal with this weekend. Santi Cazorla and Eric Bailly are both doubtful and will be assessed closer to kick-off. Álvaro Lemos, Josip Brekalo and Ovie Ejaria are ruled out and will not feature.

Rayo Vallecano return to La Liga business after a hard-fought goalless draw against Real Madrid two weeks ago. In a match of few clear cut opportunities, Iñigo Pérez's side were good value for a valuable point against their illustrious city rivals. 

Los Franjirrojos have found some decent form after a slow start to the season. Rayo are unbeaten in eight of their last nine games, including six victories across all competitions. 

On the road, Rayo kept clean sheets in recent La Liga victories against Levante (3:0) and Real Sociedad (1:0), and a similar outcome seems likely against an Oviedo side that continues to struggle in front of their own support. 

Vallecano boss Pérez has four potential injury absentees for Sunday's trip to Carlos Tartiere Stadium. Pedro Díaz and Abdul Mumin are both ruled out while Randy Nteka and Alemão will be assessed before kick-off.
