Rayo’s 2025/26 campaign has been characterised by inconsistency. The south-east Madrid side have dropped into the bottom three of the La Liga standings for the first time this season following a prolonged run of poor results, having suffered three consecutive league defeats since 18 January. Victories have been a rarity for Rayo over the past couple of months, as they have failed to collect all three points in 11 of their last 12 league outings.

Rayo’s home form does offer some reassurance, however. The club have gone unbeaten in 17 of their last 20 home matches and have kept three clean sheets in their last seven league fixtures at the Estadio de Vallecas. Nonetheless, their struggles quickly resurface when analysing their away performances. In their last 15 league fixtures on the road, Oviedo have failed to win 12, and persistent attacking issues have seen them draw blanks in several of those matches.

Recent transfer activity saw Josip Brekalo depart late in the January window, potentially leaving a gap in attacking options, although loan reinforcements have since arrived. Meanwhile, Jorge de Frutos remains Rayo Vallecano’s most reliable attacking outlet, having contributed seven league goals so far this season.
