Napoli look to revive their domestic campaign when high-flying Roma visit Naples on Saturday evening.

The hosts responded to last weekend's disappointing defeat at Venezia with a thrilling European victory against Bodo/Glimt, while Roma extended their unbeaten run with a commanding win against Slovan.

Both teams showed plenty of attacking quality in midweek, and an entertaining Derby del Sole should be expected this weekend.

Napoli

Napoli team overview

Napoli return to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona after edging to a dramatic 4:3 victory against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Matteo Politano gave Massimiliano Allegri's side an early lead before Scott McTominay struck twice. An 88th minute own goal by Odin Luras Bjørtuft ultimately proved decisive as Napoli held off a spirited second-half fightback from the Norwegian visitors.

Tuesday’s success provided a welcome response to Saturday's painful 1:0 Serie A defeat at Venezia last weekend. Napoli failed to convert several chances in northern Italy, with Kevin De Bruyne missing a second-half penalty.

Allegri's men have made an inconsistent start to the new league campaign. Three wins, one draw and three defeats leave the Partenopei ninth in Serie A with ten points collected from seven fixtures.

Napoli have looked more convincing on home soil, collecting seven points from three league matches.

Defensive reliability remains a concern, however. Allegri's side conceded eight goals across their last four fixtures, with both teams scoring in three of those fixtures.

Allegri has three expected injury absentees this week. Christian Favasuli and Alisson Santos remain unavailable while Antonio Vergara is doubtful for Saturday's contest.

After rotating his selection on Wednesday, Allegri is expected to hand recalls to Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Stanislav Lobotka and Leonardo Spinazzola.

Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund should continue as the central striker, with De Bruyne and Noa Lang providing support in the final third.

AS Roma

Roma team overview

Roma travel to Naples after cruising to a 4:0 Champions League victory against Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday.

Mario Hermoso and Nahuel Molina put the Giallorossi in control before Niccolo Pisilli and Donyell Malen completed an emphatic home win.

That performance came three days after Roma maintained their unbeaten Serie A start with a deserved 2:0 victory against Genoa. Santiago Castro broke the deadlock before Emanuele Lulli secured the points as Gian Piero Gasperini's side recorded their fifth win in seven league matches.

The in-form visitors now make the trip to Naples sitting third in Serie A, two points behind leaders Inters. Roma scored 16 goals in their first seven fixtures, averaging over two goals per game.

The Giallorossi have been particularly impressive on their travels. Roma collected seven points from three road matches this season.

Across all competitions, Roma have lost just one of ten games played this season, while they avoided defeat in four of six previous games against Napoli.

Head coach Gasperini has a strong squad available this weekend. Manu Kone remains doubtful after suffering a minor muscular injury. The French midfielder faces a late fitness test.

Top scorer Donyell Malen is available after serving a domestic suspension and should return to the starting lineup.
