Kortrijk's start to the campaign has been extremely difficult. They have lost seven of their eight league matches, winning only once, and have scored just two goals while conceding 18 according to the latest Belgian Pro League data. They subsequently lost 3-0 to Genk in their latest league outing, with Shandre Campbell sent off early in the second half after picking up his second booking of the game.

The attacking numbers are particularly concerning. Kortrijk average only 0.3 goals per game, while their 11.3 shots per match and 2.6 shots on target per game are also among the lowest figures in the division. Goduine Koyalipou is one of their main attacking threats, although the team's overall lack of offensive production remains a major issue.

Matthew Anderson is listed as doubtful with a knee problem, while other squad availability reports also list Basile Vroninks, Jamie Roche, Marko Ilić, Nayel Mehssatou and Rok Štorman as injury absences. Campbell is suspended following his dismissal against Genk.

Mechelen have also endured a poor opening eight matches, recording just one win but also three draws. They are nowhere near a prolific attacking side, although their latest league fixture was an exception, producing an important 4-3 home victory over Sint-Truiden. That result ended a four-match winless league run and should provide some confidence before the trip to Kortrijk.
