Sabah head into this historic second leg knowing that they have a once-in-a-generation opportunity in front of them. The newly crowned Azerbaijani champions, who ended Qarabag’s long-standing dominance by securing a historic domestic double last year, have continued to impress during their European campaign this summer.

With their title defence not getting underway until next week, when they travel to face Kapaz, the Owls have shown no signs of lacking competitive sharpness. They have impressed in their opening two qualifying rounds, overcoming TNS and Finnish side KuPS to record four victories from four matches.

However, Valdas Dambrauskas’s side were given a reminder of the level required to compete against serious European opposition in the first leg. Perhaps most importantly, Sabah came through the first leg in Denmark without picking up any injuries, meaning Dambrauskas should have a fully fit squad at his disposal. On the other hand, AGF Aarhus head into this long and demanding away trip with a narrow one-goal advantage, although they will be wary of the threat posed by their Azerbaijani opponents. The Danish side were arguably less dangerous throughout the first meeting, but still secured a 2-1 victory thanks to a brace from 18-year-old Ugandan forward James Bogere.
