- Date: Wednesday, 19th November, 2025
- Kickoff: 12:00 UK / 13:00 CET
- Venue: New Laos National Stadium (Vientiane)
The Asian Cup Qualifiers are about to continue. In the fifth round of Group F, we will have the opportunity to watch a duel between Laos and Vietnam at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane. While Laos are without a chance to secure the Asian Cup, Vietnam have a theoretical chance of securing the tournament. However, in order for that to happen, they have to win both games vs Laos and Malaysia, and Malaysia have to lose both games as well. So, they have a mathematical chance, but not a realistic one.

Laos team overview
Laos are #188 on the World Ranking List and, expectedly, a team that has never reached the World Cup or the Asian Cup. In these Asian Cup Qualifiers, Laos once again disappointed, winning only three points in four rounds, beating only Nepal.
After a 5:1 loss to Malaysia, coach Hyeok-jun Ha spoke to the media. He said the game plan was to hold Malaysia to a draw, which collapsed during the second half. He said Malaysia were the superior side and that they had to learn from the previous 3:0 loss against the same team. The coach also mildly criticized Malaysia for using naturalized players, attributing their big wins to that fact.

Vietnam team overview
Vietnam are #111 on the FIFA World Ranking List. They have never reached the World Cup in their history, but are a pretty regular participant in the Asian Cup, at least lately, appearing in the last two tournaments. In these Asian Qualifiers, the popular Golden Star Warriors did well, winning three out of four games. Still, a heavy loss to Malaysia (4:0) will probably cost them a spot in the Asian Cup.
After a 1:0 win over Nepal, coach Sang-sik Kim spoke to the media. He was satisfied with a victory, but noted they showed more weaknesses than they would have liked. Eventually, he noted they missed many scoring opportunities because they were too "hasty".

Prediction
Laos have had massive defensive problems in these Qualifiers, allowing a total of 14 goals in four rounds - 3.5 per game. Primarily because of those poor defensive performances, they went over 2.5 goals in all four games, while going over 3.5 goals in half of their games.
Meanwhile, Vietnam went over 3.5 goals in three out of four games in the Qualifiers. They have been excellent offensively for a long time now, having scored two or more goals in eight of the past ten games. Since they have already proven they can score easily against Laos earlier, we expect another good offensive performance.
In the previous three h2h games, Vietnam won 5:0, 4:1, and 6:0, going over 3.5 goals easily. Considering all the above, we expect another game with at least four goals.
3 Reasons why we should see four or more goals
- Laos allowed 14 goals in four Qualifier games - 3.5 per game
- Vietnam wnt over 3.5 goals in three out of four Asian Cup Qualifiers
- The last three h2h games finished with four or more goals
Main prediction Laos - Vietnam
Over 3.5 goals
