Two World Cup-bound nations square off in a friendly fixture this week as Haiti takes on New Zealand in Florida.
Both nations continue their preparations for this summer’s finals, with Haiti set to face Scotland on June 12, while New Zealand take on Iran four days later.
Set to meet for the first time, both teams will fancy their chances of picking up a positive result in what should prove a closely contested encounter.
Haiti team overview
Haiti comes into Wednesday’s international friendly looking to break a two game winless run after disappointing friendly results in March. The Grenadiers slipped to a 1:0 defeat against Tunisia before a 1:1 draw against Iceland.
Before those friendly fixtures, the Caribbean nation - set to return to the World Cup for the first time since 1974 - secured their place at this summer’s finals with back-to-back wins against Costa Rica (1:0) and Nicaragua.(2:0).
A strong defence has led to several low-scoring outcomes for the Haitians in the past year. Seven of their last 11 international matches, including their four most recent fixtures finished with under 2.5 goals scored.
Head coach Sébastien Migné has a 26-man squad available for Tuesday’s World Cup warm-up. Ferencvaros forward Lenny Joseph and Tatran Presov midfielder Dominique Simon are the only uncapped players included in the selection.

New Zealand team overview
New Zealand makes the trip to Florida with confidence raised from a commanding 4:1 win against Chile in March. Motherwell midfielder Elijah Just was one of four different scorers in a superb victory at Eden Park.
Before that morale-boosting win, the All Whites had endured a poor run of form in friendly fixtures. New Zealand lost five and picked up just one draw from six games played between June and March.
Like the Haitians, a lack of firepower has been an issue in recent matches. Before their fine four-goal salvo against the Chileans, Darren Bazeley’s boys had scored just three goals in six previous international fixtures.
Head coach Bazeley has just one injury concern this week. Dalton Wilkins is set to miss out for the All Whites.

Prediction
Both nations are likely to rotate their selections and a potentially tight and hard-fought encounter is unlikely to see more than two goals scored.
Under 2.5 goals is my best bet at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.
Three Reasons Why We Expect Under 2.5 Goals
- Haiti have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 matches
- New Zealand have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 matches
- New Zealand have scored an average of 0.83 goals per game in their last 8 matches
Main prediction Haiti - New Zealand
Under 2.5 goals
