Girona vs Elche prediction 23.05.2026 | La Liga

Girona had a magnificent 2023/24 run but instantly returned to reality. In the following season, they avoided relegation by only one point, which is pretty much their best-case scenario this year. After 37 rounds, they sit in 18th place with two points away from the next three teams - Osasuna, Levante, and Elche. The team from Catalonia needs all three points, but their current form isn't promising. Still, considering just how bad they were throughout the season, this situation, where they need a win to survive, isn't too bad. 

 Bryan Gil felt discomfort in his neck in the previous game against Atletico Madrid and had to leave the field after 56 minutes. The 25-year-old is listed as questionable for the last game of the season. Meanwhile, Vladyslav Vanat, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Abel Ruiz, Portu, and Martin Juan Carlos should remain sidelined with their long-term injuries. 

Elche secured a return to La Liga last year, after finishing 2nd in La Liga 2. Throughout the season, they had some nice stretches, but an atrocious run from January to mid-March pushed them into the relegation zone. Now, they are in 17th place with only two points away from dropping into the relegation zone. The main issue this season has been their atrocious road record, where they averaged a mere 0.39 points per game - by far the lowest in the league. The team from Alicante is in much better form than Girona, but their road record is really worrisome, and it will be interesting to see whether they can secure one point and stay in the league.

Aleix Febas and Leo Petrot served their suspensions and are available for the most important game of the season. Meanwhile, Yago Santiago and Adam Boayar should remain sidelined with their injuries.
